Round Off

Seven individual elements are connected into a shelf by a simple plug-in connection. All segments have different dimensions, resulting in spaces of varying sizes, while the spaces between the connections have the same dimensions, which gives the diversity of the segments a structure/order. The overlaps create additional levels on which objects can be displayed.

Round Off is available in two versions: as a wall-mounted shelf and as a freestanding shelf, which can also be used as a room divider.

The edges of the individual elements that merge with another element are rounded, while the corners that remain unconnected stay sharp. The symbolism behind this is that in order to form a connection, both sides must become a bit softer, rounder. We do not have to give up our individuality;

we can preserve some of our edges and corners and still occupy our own space. And if we allow it and open ourselves a bit to the other, we can see ourselves as a great whole, a collective artwork in which each person can remain true to themselves and find their important place within the whole structure.

A beautiful contrast emerges between the planar outline and the space. The view of the edges creates an almost graphic silhouette. The depth of the chambers and the resulting hollow spaces of the connecting elements reveal spaces with dynamic shadows and color gradients.
